1அந்நாட்களிலே பெலிஸ்தர் இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ண, தங்கள் சேனைகளைப் போருக்குக் கூட்டினார்கள்; அப்பொழுது ஆகீஸ் தாவீதை நோக்கி: நீயும் உன் மனுஷரும் எவ்விதத்திலும் என்னோடேகூட யுத்தத்துக்கு வரவேண்டும் என்று அறியக்கடவாய் என்றான்.

Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me, to bring me up?” Saul answered, “I am very distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God has departed from me, and answers me no more, by prophets, or by dreams. Therefore I have called you, that you may make known to me what I shall do.”

20அந்தக்ஷணமே சவுல் நெடிதாங்கிடையாய்த் தரையிலே விழுந்து, சாமுவேலின் வார்த்தைகளினாலே மிகவும் பயப்பட்டான்; அவன் இராப்பகல் முழுவதும் ஒன்றும் சாப்பிடாதிருந்தபடியினால், அவன் பலவீனமாயிருந்தான்.
